Chandrabadni Temple – A Spiritual Ascent in the Garhwal Hills
Perched high atop a Himalayan ridge in Tehri Garhwal, Chandrabadni Temple is a sacred Shakti Peeth believed to be the spot where Goddess Sati’s torso fell. It offers not only spiritual solace but also sweeping 360° views of the Garhwal Himalayas.

History & Mythology
Chandrabadni Temple holds deep significance in Hindu mythology. As per legend, it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas — where parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell after Lord Shiva carried her burnt remains across the universe in grief. It is believed that her torso dropped at this very peak, sanctifying it eternally.
The temple houses no idol, but a Shri Yantra is worshipped along with a trishul (trident) and several iron weapons. Devotees climb hundreds of stone steps to seek blessings and offer prayers in the serene, divine atmosphere.
Why Visit Chandrabadni?
Apart from its religious value, Chandrabadni offers breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas, the Bhagirathi Valley, and the Tehri Dam in the distance. The spiritual peace, combined with the cool mountain breeze, makes it a rare blend of divinity and natural wonder.
