As per legend, it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas — where parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell after Lord Shiva carried her burnt remains across the universe in grief. It is believed that her torso dropped at this very peak, sanctifying it eternally.
The temple houses no idol, but a Shri Yantra is worshipped along with a trishul (trident) and several iron weapons. Devotees climb hundreds of stone steps to seek blessings and offer prayers in the serene, divine atmosphere.
